The mission of Broward Ebony Golf Association, Inc.

(BEGA) is to organize and provide funding for quality, youth-oriented golf programs and events throughout Broward County; targeting low-income children and young adults. We are committed to raising funds that would enable the introduction to the game of golf to interested juniors who may or may not wish to continue and ultimately participate in amateur competitions. Our aim is to benefit young adults of all ethnic and economic backgrounds who are eighteen years of age and under or until their junior’s senior year of high school; we will attempt to provide financial assistance, instructions, instructional materials, mentoring, equipment, scholarships and equal affordable access to professionally run golf programs and events. BEGA will be instrumental in providing equipment, training and transportation to competitive events for junior golfers as well as regularly scheduled instruction classes. The program is designed to improve the golfer’s life skills among juniors and young adult golfers.

Broward Ebony Golf Association annually offers students future-shaping golf scholarships through fundraising tournaments and events.  Our first initiative was to annual award two scholarships to prospective college students to help them on their career path, however, by 2010 those awards was increased to five scholarships annually.

Staying involved in the local community is extremely important to us.  Broward Ebony Golf Association continues to participate in several different local events and have been recognized in local newspapers and publications for our involvement in the community and our scholarship for young golfers.

We would like to inspire all golfers to achieve their personal best in quality, competitiveness and the instructional environment in the game of golf.

Our History

Began with a group of 15 amateur golfers with a strong desire to play golf.  This desire led them to the greens of Southwinds Golf and Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida.  From this beginning, in January, 2004 Broward Ebony Golf Association, Inc. (BEGA) was founded.  With an aspiration to grow this unique gathering of golfers, Broward Ebony Golf Association became incorporated and received its charter in August, 2005.   Moving forward in a pursuit to further Broward Ebony Golf Association among amateur golfers,  BEGA became an affiliate golf club of the Sunshine State Amateur Golf Association (SSAGA) in 2005 and now presently  holda 501©(3) certification and is in good standing with the Division of Corporations-State of Florida.
